Welcome to Our New Associate Pastor, Dan Kim!

We are thrilled to welcome to RRUMC our new Associate Pastor, Rev. Daniel Jinhyo Kim.  He comes to us with an undergraduate degree from Virginia Tech, Master of Divinity degree from Boston University and Masters of Theological Studies from Boston College.  He is married to Esther Choi, and their first child, Micah, was born TODAY, WEDNESDAY, June 26th.

Here is how Dan describes his journey to our community of faith:

If my life until now could be summed up in a single word, that word would have to be “grace.” I feel truly graced and grateful to God for everything that has occurred in my life. God has graced me with two wonderful callings. One is to be a part of a Christ-centered family. The other is to be a loving neighbor and servant in the furthering of the reign of God. Although I met some wonderful people in Boston and had amazing learning experiences while serving there, I knew in my heart that God was calling me back to Virginia. Also, I was born in Korea, but raised in Virginia. And since my mission in life is to love God and love neighbor, it feels right to be back home because “Virginia is for Lovers.”

We are so grateful to have Dan, Esther, and Micah to join our ministries and church family here at River Road.

A Farewell to RRUMC Associate Pastor, Emily Moore

Emily Moore, the Associate Pastor at River Road United Methodist Church, has been called to become the new Pastor of Warsaw United Methodist Church beginning in July.  During the past thirteen years, the River Road community of faith has had the privilege of watching Emily Moore grow in her faith, expand her skills, complete her education, and begin her journey toward Ordination.  Her goal through these years has been to become a Pastor of her own church, which is now being realized.

Emily has served our congregation in practically every area of ministry.  In doing so, she has touched each of our lives with her prayers, her sermons, and her winning smile.  We rejoice in what her ministry here has meant to all of the families in our congregation.  We send Emily to her new appointment with our overflowing love and best wishes, as she continues the work that God has called her to do.

Emily’s last Sunday at River Road will be June 16th, and a reception honoring her is being planned for that Sunday following the 11:00 service.  We will miss you, Emily, but we rejoice in your new opportunity to serve God, and to share your gifts with another very fortunate United Methodist congregation.
