“He’s no saint – that’s why he made salvation seem possible.” These words describe someone who struggled with insatiable desires. Someone who worked hard, fulfilled his dreams, yet still felt empty. A bi-racial person who struggled to find his place in the corridors of power. Someone who looked within and found not a straight line to his center, but a hard to navigate labyrinth. This is a description of Augustine – Saint Augustine – who blazed a trail in how we understand ourselves and our relationship with God not because he was faultless, but because he learned from his wanderings. Based on James K. A. Smith’s book, “On the Road with Saint Augustine,” this study helps us find a companion who helps us find freedom from our unhappy wanderings. This 6 week study will be led by Ed Kross and begin on January 12.
