Changing Lives, One Meal at a Time

Eva Huston Pantry

At River Road UMC, we believe in the power of community and giving to those in need. Your support for the Eva Huston Pantry has made a significant impact not only in our local community but also in the lives of hundreds of children at five orphanages in Liberia, including those with hearing and visual impairments. Your generosity has given these children more than just food – it has given them hope, opportunity, and a chance for a better future.

“Your ongoing support has made a significant impact not only on my life but also on the lives of many other children at the village. Your generosity has provided us with more than just basic necessities—it has given us hope, opportunity, and a chance for a better future.”

We also received beautiful thank you notes in Braille from some of the children, highlighting how deeply your contributions are appreciated.

October Fundraiser for 2025 Mission

During the month of October, we collected funds for the Eva Huston Pantry. In January 2025, our church member Esther Tuopay will travel to Liberia to purchase food for the children. By buying food in Liberia, we support the local economy and avoid costly shipping fees, allowing more of your donations to go directly toward food.

The many heartfelt thank yous from the children demonstrate just how much your support mattered. This year, we aim to surpass that amount, as food prices have risen in Liberia just as they have here in the U.S. Together, we can make an even greater difference in 2025!

  • Your contributions help provide essential food supplies to the orphanages. Here’s how your donation can make a difference:

    • $30 = 25-pound bag of rice

    • $80 = 25-pound bag of beans

    • $75 = 5 gallons of cooking oil

You can donate online, place a check or cash in the offering plate, or drop your donation by the church office. Please note that your donation is for the Eva Huston Pantry.

As donations come in, watch the jar in the Welcome Center fill with rice, symbolizing our growing impact together!

  • Consider eating only rice and beans for a day or a week and donating your savings to the Eva Huston Pantry. This is a powerful way to teach your children about the challenges faced by those less fortunate and help them understand that some children in the world have only rice and beans to eat—if they’re lucky.

Challenge your friends and fellow church members to join in and make an even greater impact! text goes here

  • We aim to provide food to all five orphanages supported by the Eva Huston Pantry, each of which has several hundred residents. Prayerfully consider how God is calling you to give generously and help us change a child’s life.

All donations must be in by November 1st, 2024.

Together, we can give a child hope and opportunity. Let’s change lives through the Eva Huston Pantry!
