Fear of Death and Dying

Death is one of life’s greatest uncertainties, and fear of the unknown can weigh heavily on us. Even Jesus wrestled with the reality of death, as seen in Luke 22:39-44, and His disciples struggled to accept it (Mark 8:31-32). In this sermon, we acknowledge the anxieties surrounding death—the fear of pain, the lack of control, and the uncertainty of what comes next. Yet, through Christ’s resurrection, we find the assurance that death does not have the final word. Like the early Methodists who were known for their "good deaths," we, too, can approach death with faith and peace, knowing that Christ has conquered its sting.
